of Rob Crow's schizophrenia, of his Big Bang, of his viral marketing, Heavy Vegetable was the very beginning. it was, in the words of Gogol Bordello (in heavy rotation last week), his Supertheory of Supereverything. his first band ever; with whom he released his first published music ever, an EP, at age 22. and i am not just throwing metaphors in the air here - the name of that 1993 debut EP? A Bunch of Stuff.some might say Rob Crow spread himself too thin after the first band. i might agree 20% but i also think multiple personalitites co-exist only as a disorder. Heavy Vegetable was to uninhibited as Pinback, his most active band to date, is to accomplished. the two make a study in contrast and i offer you names, to start: Autumn of the Seraphs vs. Mondo Aqua Kitty. come on, hit me with the bipolar sketch.wait, am i offending anyone with any political incorrectness towards psychoses? alright, we're all normal and i'm paranoid. but back to cuckoo Rob. listen to their minute-songs, i ask you, and tell me Heavy Vegetable was not the Grand Unification of Rob Crow. and then he set forth and multiplied. consider this, a track i love, from Frisbie:
