Oh. Oh. OooooooOOoooooooo.dreampop shoegaze psychedelic taunt slither cloud machinealbum five by the experimentalist from Cologne, Markus Schmickler aka Wabi Sabi, is milestoned by many counts, including: a) his most full-scale collaboration with favorite muse Julee Cruise of Twin Peaks fame, b) another two female guest vocals besides Julee, and c) him actually singing in his songs. ("There’s beauty in breakdown", whispers Markus.)the above track features Berlin musician Julia Hummer; monstrous climax starting at 3:10 - just finish the song, damn it. on comment, another track for which to compromise your breathing. stream yet another track, Drowning in You, on Pitchfork. The Monstrous Surplus will be released on October 23rd. listen to tracks from previous album Dreams Top Rock on MySpace.

  4. scotfree says Yeah, I listened to them about 4 times each last night. "If Time Was On My Side" accompanied me through a successful ebay bid for a whacked out super-colorful ski suit (circa 1980's) that my son desired. (He's a crazy snowboarder). Anyway, the densely layered sound and dreamy vocals were a perfect companion. Love the vocalist's accent on "If Time". Like a steam powered velvet piledriver, this track is busy smashing iron bars into Christmas tree tinsel. I love it. As for "Border", the harmonies and vocal tradeoffs shimmer and simmer to a low boil. Once again, the accent give it that unique edge. Are their other recordings this tasty?? A new discovery for me, thanks for sharing!!!
