    Kevin Decline
Baby Panda is the solo vehicle of Paul Gonzenbach, better known as the frontman (vocals, guitar, piano, songwriting) of Absolutely Kosher's The Jim Yoshii Pile-up from Oakland, CA.Enforcer is his debut album, released recently; and from what I have heard thus far, it amalgamates shoegaze, prog rock, drone pop, blues. What've You Been Up To, which is kind of the carrier track for now, should give you a good idea of that nice syrupy mix. This other track is the one I am loving muchly. Moggers, Kevin Decline deserves 5:10 minutes of your time. The album features a gorgeous cover of Angel, Angel, Down We Go Together by Morrissey, which I urge everyone to play in open air on a windyish night at the rooftop (or 16th floor balcony) of your apartment.

  3. Girlcrawl says What a wonderful mixture of musical elements; Kevin Decline can have a month's worth of my time! Great voice, lyrics, and music - now off to find a sixteen story building as I just have to attempt your intriguing 'best way to to listen' suggestion! Excellent post.

  4. poebegone says LadyC: spot on! it will be easy to dismiss the song as, heaven forbid, unplugged, but when i put on headphones and really listened, what i found were layers of subtle sound beds. not surprised you caught all of it. (; Girlcrawl: and when you've found your balcony, perhaps someday we fellow Moggers can climb up there, and you and i can split a beer / cream puff / weed. :D i think LadyC would agree that it rocks to be a foodie!

  5. poebegone says ashod: ding ding ding, you got it! i couldn't get the words out of my head so i got up really early and took the lyrics first thing today: Kevin Decline by Baby Panda Following a well-used path before easing beneath the water line. We were following a well-used path. We saw the signs, the rising water line, our love in decline. You've never been grabbed by the guts. You've never been kicked in the neck, or dragged out and wrung out, and drugged up and knocked up. You never wanted to, you never needed to. I ran into your best friends, and, oh, the things they say about you now. And your long lost lovers, well, the adjectives, the gestures. So sorry to fold so soon. It's so, so sad but such a nice tune. I meant every word I said. I meant every word I said, still do. (?) I know you, you are lost when you are found, so much more comfortable in frowns. You and I, we are lost when we are found. Comfortable in neglect, we will be comfortable in the ground. Comfortable in the ground. We are the joke that gets the biggest laugh. You say you've (?) no kind words for anyone to their back or face to face. You say the cruelest things and all the while you wear the most endearing smile. Oh, is it any wonder they love you? Is it any wonder they love you, is it any wonder they love you? Is it any wonder they love you?

  8. Marigold says me me me! pick me! I want to sit on the balcony too. I'll bring some of my homebrew...and some munchies. :) May I ask what a foodie is? This is a great song. I will have to investigate further. Thanks for the heads up.

  9. poebegone says Mike! i will hang out with you anytime, balcony or no balcony. ;p the meaning i've invented for foodie, which may or may not be correct, is someone who genuinely enjoys/loves food. (as opposed to people who become ridden with guilt after their first bite, which i find boring.)
