Madchester - Baggy Lives!

About the same time Grunge was making a name for itself in Seattle, the "Madchester" sound (called "Baggy") hit hard and fast in England with The Stone Roses' 1989 album release of the same name. Soon other Manchester bands were combining psychedelic tones and funky dance grooves to create a unique sound that strangely honored the 60's British Invasion. Unlike Grunge, the Madchester Sound was relatively short-lived, but its influence can be heard in much indie music (note that Noel Gallagher from Oasis was a guitar tech for Inspiral Carpets!) and hip-hop (check The Stones Roses' sample in the last inclusion from MC Tunes) that followed. Enjoy!
