Great! I don't know that "Softer" is the appropriate term. The second track is blistering. That is really one of the most amazing solos I've ever heard. Shame it's also got to be the most amazingly bad recording.
I love that Johnny Hartman is first. While well known by jazz nerds, and heard constantly on Radio/Starbucks, and other corporate contexts, the poor guy never got his due. Sinatra sounds like Phills Diller next to him.
Kind of sounds like what a young jazz hipster would have listened to in the early sixties on the west coast.
