Rocking this playlist in the MOG offices right now. Thanks Cody!
Cool, glad to rock the MOG HQ. I cheated a bit with the New Birth cut..which should actually be credited to their backing band..The Nite-Liters and actually has a few words.
For some modern (post-1990) funkstramental sounds check this New Jersey Kings/Corduroy post.
Ok, I couldn't live with that re-record of Scorpio so I subbed in the Kashmere Stage band version..BTW..kudos on getting some Stones Throw stuff in the system..
Here's the real Dennis Coffey-Scorpio
You always need an exception to prove the rule.
"Scorpio" is playing right now. Recently found that on vinyl and, man, does it sound GOOD. I mean, it always sounds good, but the digital transfers don't do it justice compared to the LP. And I'm not one of those "vinyl is always better" guys. Just a crappy remastering job, I guess.
So, is that New Jersey Kings cover art by Corky McCoy (from Miles' "On The Corner")?
I'm sure it wasn't him, but I'd also wager that whoever did it had that cover in mind..
Good catch there...
Another fine playlist Cody. The backyard is grooving.
@ST-Party on, brother.
Makes for some fine BBQ music, thanks for this one!
That good news Bilbo..I got it right here in Gettysburgh. The fam and I are on the way down to the Shenendoah's...Y'all have a good weekend.
