Because Kirsty MacColl was married to the producer Steve Lillywhite and a part of the early years of Stiff records she's featured as a background vocalist on tons of great singles. "They Don't Know" was her debut 45 on Stiff and is still a gorgeous song almost 35 years later. "A New England" was also an early Stiff single and originally performed and written by Billy Bragg. "Days" is a cover of the Kinks song and went top 20 in The UK. On all the rest of the tracks here she is either on background or co-vocals. "Yankee Wheels" is one of my all time favorite Stiff 45s and was also featured on a great compilation album of punk bands from Akron, Ohio. "A Bit Higher" is from Jona Lewie's first Stiff album and features KM quite prominently. "Greetings To The New Brunette" is one of several tracks by Billy Bragg that Kirsty was featured on. "Hallelujah" by Happy Mondays was produced by Steve Lillywhite as was "Interesting Drug" the track that follows. Kirsty's bg vocals are prominent on both. She gets co-vocal credits on "Fairytale Of New York" by The Pogues and makes a good song great. The last 2 tracks were both written by Kirsty and performed by Tracey Ullman on her debut album. KM also gets a production credit on "You Broke My Heart In 17 Places". This is a pretty good sample of the work of a great artist who died tragically in 2000 at the age of 41. Hope you enjoy
