Yo-Yo Ma, cellist extraordinaire, is combining an historic trade route with the arts to bring peace and innovation to the world. The French-born Chinese American prodigy founded the Silk Road Project to 'connect the world's neighborhoods' through music. Over the centuries, innovations like the printing press, mathematics, and the magnetic compass travelled West along the Silk Road, which also helped disseminate artistic and cultural traditions.
