Its snowing here in Northern Virginia and the ubiquitous signs that Valentine's Day is here has moved me to throw together an iTunes play list of songs of the season so to speak:
1. You and I Both - Jason Mraz (every version of this song from album to bootleg never disappoints)
2. Australia - The Shins (shameless plug for my call on album of the year)
3. I'm Like a Lawyer With the Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You) - Fall Out Boy (coincidentally the Simpson's episode featuring the band's name sake was on television last night.... GO MILHOUSE!)
4. How Do You Keep Love Alive - Ryan Adams
5. Monkey - Counting Crows (fell in love with this song the first time I heard it and when Adam Duritz sang, "got Ben Folds on my radio..." I went out and bought a BF5 cd the next day.)
6. On Your Side - Pete Yorn
7. Can I Stay - Ray LaMontagne
8. My Love [Featuring T.I.] - Justin Timberlake (gotta give Mr. "Its My Dick In a Box" a slot on the list)
9. P.D.A. (We Just Don't Care) - John Legend (love the song, but hate PDA... get a dayum room people)
10. All You Need Is Love - The Beatles (going to see the Cirque du Soleil/Beatles mashup when I am in Las Vegas in March)
11. Oh - Dave Matthews (this is just one of the many Dave songs I could have included, but given that my CD must have been scratched when I imported it I had to re-rip this track last week been playing it ever since)
12. You Are What You Love - Jenny Lewis With the Watson Twins (wink to my friend Dado who has a crush on the twins)
13. All I Want Is You - U2 (i am old enough to say that i saw Rattle & Hum in a theatre).
14. Hey Lover [Featuring LL Cool J] - Boyz II Men (the boyz are always a staple for valentine's day mixes)
15. Buddy - The Lemonheads (i still find myself asking why Evan Dando and Juliana Hatfield never blessed the world with beautiful children)
16. I Do - Jude (if i had to pay Jude a buck for every time i've ever played this song, he would make the google braintrust look like paupers)
17. Slide - The Ocean Blue (beautiful song from an under appreciated album)
18. At My Most Beautiful - R.E.M. (it doesn't get any better than "i count your eyelashes secretly... with every one whisper i love you)
19. J'Ai Deux Amours - Madeleine Peyroux (french always sounds amorous to me)
20. Love - The Sundays (i just realized that i saw this band in concert on this very day back in 1993... and i lament the theft of my concert t from this show yearly)

Great post. Some of those songs are classics, especially "Love" by The Sundays. That song soars!
