Avril Lavigne Too Sexy for Malaysia?

Why'd she have to go and make things so complicated? Avril may be many things but is "too sexy" one of them? Islamists in Malaysia seem to think so. Lavigne joins the ranks of other female artists such as Gwen Stefani and the Pussycat Dolls in what the youth wing of the Islamists deems as "inappropriate." Performers are required to be covered up to their knees, and to refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.
"It is considered too sexy for us. ... It's not good for viewers in Malaysia," a party official told the Associated Press. "We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models."
A decision has yet to be reached as to whether or not Malaysian audiences will be treated to "Sk8er Boi." More here.

Oh well, I'm sure that Avril Lavigne fans can get as much carnal pleasure as they can handle in their own abodes via the Internet, DVDs, or salacious magazines. Public censure only feeds the "forbidden fruit" aspect of the marketing machine. (I Remember when "Banned in Boston" was a selling point for books and movies long before computers and solid state electronics.)

I tell you, one day when Western teenagers are lying comatose on a sofa with their bongs half-empty and the Xbox blazing, Avril or some other bimbette uncovered above the knees pumping on the stereo, the youth of Asia will invade our corrupted, decadent continents and sweep the youth into the unforgiving sea. And all because some thigh flashing ladies jumped around and shouted on stage. As sure as the amp goes to 11, this day will come.
Yes, she is too sexy, and frankly, she needs to tone that side down. Don't go the way of Liz Phair, instead, Ms. Lavigne, why not use Ms. Madonna as a role model? Or, stay the same and avoid that part of the world? Obviously they are stuck on the Disney Channel - wait, then again, Hannah Montana is probably too sexy, and High School musical is rated "r".
I had a friend from Malaysia and he was probably the funniest person I ever knew. All at once he would break into kung fu moves whilst wearing his sarong which he would then somehow untie and continue to fung fu away and perform a kind of burlesque. Now that was too sexy for Malayasia!
