SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

Bullet for My Valentine-Live at Brixton

Posted over 2 years ago

No one has reviewed this great DVD yet so I thought I'd put in my two cents:The DVD opens to an enormously long line of young fans crowded outside screaming for Bullet and the band walking backstage to the stage to their album intro which steadily builds in pace as the fans watch Bullet take the stage.Suddenly, the Bullet for My Valentine banners drop and the band heads straight into the second song of their hit album, The Poison: Her Voice Resides. A great opening song, the crowd is already pumping their fists, starting circle pits, crowd surfing, and yelling the lyrics back at the band. Despite audio production oversights (volume shifts) that cannot be blamed on the band itself, Bullet performs this and every other song to perfection, showing that their album was not enhanced through post-production improvement. The real showcase of this album is the amazing interaction between guitarists Matt Tuck and Michael Padget. With most modern bands having designated lead and rhythm guitarists, Bullet disavows that disturbingly growing "acceptable" trend by giving equally difficult and skillful parts to both guitarists. The band also shows strength mixing their patent ferocious vocals with what would otherwise be pop ballads. This not only broadens their appeal but shows that metal does have a soft side. No song on this release is without an incredible guitar solo by Tuck or Padge.Considering all of the extras of the DVD including their music videos, behind the scenes documentaries, and Bullet TV (members of the band tape "moments in the life" sort of scenes while on tour), this release is a steal for anybody even moderately interested in the band dubbed "the future of British Metal." These modest Welsh boys are on their way to the top putting explosive shows on in the UK, Europe, and America. Having opened for Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, and Metallica, it's no secret that the word is spreading. Now's the time to get to see them while they're still playing smaller venues because soon enough people will be packing arenas to watch Bullet. Set List:IntroHer Voice Resides4 WordsSuffocating Under Words of SorrowAll These Things I HateThe PoisonSpit You OutCries In VainJust Another StarTears Don't FallNo ControlHand of BloodThe EndHighly Recommended for any fan of metal in the 2000 era.
