Extended Improvisation
Hey now! I recently read a quote from Big Red aka Trey Anastasio where he mentioned the whole "JAM BAND" stigma that many amazingly talented artists must combat in some way or another.
I believe that when folks hear the words Jam Band come out of anybody's mouth, they automatically envision nasty, smelly, spanging hippies. Now, I believe I was at the World premiere of Time Turns Elastic (an eerily beautiful creation by Trey Anastasio and Don Hart) 27 September 2008 when I witnessed actual societal evolution taking place. Heads wearing nice clothes, many of us were in suits, and it blew my mind. Even though it's so much easier to describe your band's sound as "a jam band," we have to realize that we're growing up, man. With this growth comes great responsibility. I hope we can all get together as a team, and reveal the magic of Extended Improvisational Music.
By the way, it's so friggin' funny to see a wook wearing a suit. It's like armor in a way.
This is my first post. I hope you read it, and moreover I want you to look forward to the next post =^]
PEACE
