WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

My Film Idea is Ruined ...

Posted over 3 years ago
...but I'm glad...I used to be really into Television Personalities. Dan Treacy can really write a good pop ditty as well as some really sad pieces. Somewhere in the late '90s, after a long hiatus with no TVP release, I did a search on the Internet to see if there was any news about them. To my surprise, I found out that Dan Treacy had vanished. No one new of his whereabouts. The more I looked into it the more bizarre it seemed. So, I started getting this idea that I would rent a good DV camera and film a documentary about trying to find Dan Treacy. Start by connecting with his last record company in Germany and see where it took me next...never got around to it. Turns out Dan Treacy was in jail for shoplifting. Served a five year sentence (which seems a bit harsh) and was let out about a year ago. They have a new album out called My Dark Places...well worth a listen but perhaps not up to par with some of the late '70s and early '80s material

  1. Kate says I am a TVP fan as well. Maybe you should still make a film, but a TVP documentary instead, 'cause there's still a lot of people who need to be turned on to their music. I'm sure MOJO magazine would finance it (:

  2. markheyert says You get your camera and then after much seaching, which will give you time to listen to all the TVP outtakes you've amassed but your family will not let you listen to, you find him but he looks like crap and has lost all of his song crafting abilities. I use the song crafting as a loose term - Andy Partridge, John Lennon, Tom Verlaine and Bowie are more crafters than DT, IMHO, what do you do then? BTW are you a good cinematographer? Nevermind that just invite me to the premier because i'd go see a sick ass film like this! good luckl and if you send me a picture i'll keep my eye out for DT.
