I had better hop on this mogwagon before it leaves town (oh, wait, it left town months ago, and I never got around to posting this...), although I'm not sure if I'm popular enough on Mog to merit such a post.
My name is Dana, I live somewhere near Rawkkiddo in frosty or overbearingly humid Minnesota, depending on the season (there's only two!). I should hope that I live and love music. I'm meticulous about lots of things in life especially my writing, to the point that I suck out all of the fun and soul out of reading my posts sometimes, as few as they are. This is also why I read all of your posts. That's right! If you've been trusted, I have them all to read (going on 700 right now).
I'm the only person I know who enjoys doing the dishes by hand. I like to clean and am very domestic for a man. I find those new Bissell commercials most amusing. I have been with my girlfriend for over 7 years now, and we will eventually maybe get married, but we haven't decided yet. We have two guinea pigs, part of my favorite order of animalia - rodentia. I love video games and RPGs are my mainstay.
During the day, I'm a scientist - that's where I make teh moneyz (I have a pocket protector for each lab coat I wear). My favorite band is 311, although about 20 other bands are pretty much tied for second place. I'm not old enough to like the bands my favorite bands call inspirational, which is just not true, but I haven't had the time to discover them all, or listen to them all yet. I'm a musician who can play the saxophone, guitar, and drums/percussion. I don't trust most music critics because I don't think many of them understand the music they critique. I think most of them haven't any music knowledge, and they only go off of what they like or don't like (there very well could be many music critics who grasp music well, but I've never trusted them enough). If you haven't picked up an instrument even to play something someone else has written, you will never fully understand or appreciate music (I will go to the mat on this one).
I've taken African dance for years, have more recently gotten into hip hop and plan on tackling tap next. I now drum for the African class that I used to dance in. I love beer and food (who doesn't?), and I don't think I could go even vegetarian for long, despite my loathing of the way animals are treated. I'm not related to anyone famous that I know of, but I'm three degrees of separation from Arnold Swartzenegger. I slept through a tornado as a baby and would probably sleep through someone hacking me up if they broke into my house. I don't like downloading music, because there's something about holding that plastic case in my hands (liner notes and such are a big plus!). I'm a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do, and I know enough Judo to kill someone. I studied mycology in college for a short time under one of the top world renown mycologists David McLaughlin. I tirelessly recycle everything I can, including junk mail, lighbulbs, lab supplies, etc. My favorite ice cream flavor is Peppermint Bon Bon, or "Mint Chocolate Chip" as the Wisconsinites and random other states call it.
The name P-Wagz is derived from my middle and last name, respectively. It was given to me by a classmate in 8th grade algebra, and has stuck ever since.
That should be more than you ever wanted to know about me. Happy mogging, stay positive, and in the words of a great elder - be love!

dude, this is really well written.
never thought about this joint as a popularity contest and i've been what they call "under the radar" forever, so it's great you got over that part and wrote your piece. frankly, even though music brings us here, this thread ended up being my fave of all. i ended up writing one as well, which is something i NEVER would have done before.
besides being well written, it's also kind of fascinating. unless your forte is fiction writing, you've got an entertaining life with "interesting interests".
i'm in the middle of doing rehab for my ACL replacement surgery and this was a nice break from the regimen. thanks Dana, and good to "meet" you. hope it felt good to hit the "publish" button and hope you get some comments that make you glad you did it.
Yeah, p! I agree with Robin. Great stuff. Thanks for laying it out - and for hanging out with us in the MOG-iverse.
Aww, shucks, I'm speechless!
Thanks a lot guys! I will definitely get around to reading yours! Though I'm sure I read Mr. Knife's already, so that means I'll have to dig a little to read Robin's.
@Robin - It actually took me minute to hit "publish" just because I'm a bit weary of putting so much personal information out on the internet. Sure, I trust my fellow moggers, but when anyone can see this, the little red flag that pops out of my head starts to ascend.
hahahaha, you nailed minnesota right on the mark. Dont forget days like today where you think it might just snow right in the middle of april
nice to meet you by the way!
right on! had fun reading about you.
Cool, thanks for sharing about yourself, fascinating. I'm not sure I'd admit to being 3 degrees of separation from Arnie though. I live in CA & despise him as the governator(I still can't believe he got into office). Interesting about you being a scientist too. Also I wholeheartedly agree with you about music critics.
Yeah the Arnold thing was a small point of pride when I was younger. Thanks for reading!
I JUST SAW THIS! (OK, caps lock off)
This was a great read!
Congratulations on 7 happy years with your girlfriend!
We have much in common: I, too, enjoy washing dishes by hand, like RPGs, don't trust music critics at all (I have my MOGgers, thank you very much), slept through a massive earthquake as a child, like buying instead of downloading music, and recycle like a madwoman.
I thought that being a vegetarian was impossible, even though I never really liked the taste and texture of meat, because Greek cuisine is so meat-oriented. When I met my current boyfriend who is a vegetarian and can cook like a mofo, I realized that not only it's totally possible, but it's also very very yummy. I got exposed to many cuisines from around the world, and I don't miss meat AT ALL. I've been a vegetarian for a year now and I will probably never go back.
Peppermint Bon Bon sounds very intriguing....
I love this: I'm not old enough to like the bands my favorite bands call inspirational, which is just not true, but I haven't had the time to discover them all, or listen to them all yet.
I agree with this completely.
It's been great to get to know you better!
Thanks everyone for reading!
By the way, if you've posted one of these, could you send me a link, so I can return the favor? I love this kind of stuff!
just read your post, and nice to meet you! washing the dishes by hand lends character in spades, and this post delivers a fantastic read. looking forward to more dialog especially
