Atlantis - Hymns for The Disco
K-os, one my favorite hip hop rappers around right now, slipped my mind once again and he has a new album out called "Atlantis - Hymns for a Disco". His 1st CD "exit" is exceptional, great positive hip/hop meets soul and reggae. "Joyful Rebellion",well it's hit and miss. A lot more poppy, jazzy some of the rhymes are weak....but whatever.Listening to this album (1min tracks off his website) sounds very promising. There is one video on BET for the song "Electrick Heat" and on his myspace page and there is a video that a fan made for his song "Flypaper" that follows some Nightmare before Christmas footage. Video is alright but the song is killer. It's got an upbeat reggae beat in the back similar to his songs "Crabbucket" and "Superstar Pt 2"Ill def. have to get this, I also want to check out his DVD. It would be amazing to catch him in Canada when I go in Jan.

  1. funkybarb says Just picked this up today and loving it so far ... he is an amazing musician and great talent ... i like that he can't easily be slotted into the hip hop or rap genres ... IMHO this takes a lot more talent than straight up hip hop ... oh, and i've seen him live ... hope you get a chance to check him out.

  4. dreddy says fantastic album, Atlantis... I was lucky enough to be in Canada the exact week that the album dropped up there(only my fourth time to the country...what are the odds??) He's delaying the US release & adding some bonus tracks last I heard... btw, Joyful Rebellion is classic, not "hit and miss"... only downfall is that it's too short Thanks for the vid links
