MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

(79)

4. Here Comes One, by Lavender Diamond

Taken as a whole, this album is a bit thin, but there are some real stand-out tracks. The piano in this one is irresistable to me (ditto the tiny dashes of new wave synth).

Also, "You have opened your heart with your mind"? Some of their songs are so irrationally positive as to verge on Christian radio territory, but this is an upbeat message I can get behind. Love is hard work; opening your mind is good for your emotional health; etc etc. (I've been starting a community sexual health group, and doing a lot of talking with feminists and radicals about how progressive politics make interpersonal relationships more rewarding.)

Oh you walk down the street and you work so hard, Joxley! I only intended to post this song, but I've ended up listening to it on repeat while I do other computing. It has perking power.

Hey I like this. It is the most positive thing I have ever heard besides Polyphonic Spree!

I agree with your group - one's relationships and sexuality are positively affected when the political climate is supportive and progressive - it makes such a difference when you can see your way of life being affirmed in the culture around you. I think I must be a feminist radical :)

Agreed, darmuzz, but I would add that personally being progressive can help relationships, regardless of the culture at large. (Going into my hippie den to light some incense for world peace now. And, you know, to challenge all my assumptions about right behaviour.)
