Paging Glenn Gould, productivity emergency on four...

Posted over 5 years ago
You can always tell when I'm going insane on a client project, because Glenn Gould creeps into my top artists widget. Brahms Ballades, Rhapsodies and Intermezzi are the heavy guns-- socially reclusive pianist plays heroic music by introverted composer. Alone! Heroic! I will finish this project! This is a ballad, opus 10, number 3. Number 1 is pretty rocking too (it has a real double fisted, piano hero section around the 3 minute mark. "Dun dun dun dun! DUN DUN DUN DUN!"). I think both of them are featured to great effect in 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould.

  1. ookpik says I should add... "Alone! Heroic! Crippled my my own compulsions, in this case not agoraphobia but procrastination and laziness!"

  2. 1234chainsaw says Alone! Heroic! I will finish this project! Sounds like the kind of music that I'd need often, especially as my tenure review time is approaching fast. I only have (most, but not all of) his Bach recordings. 32 Short Films was rather fantastic.

  5. ookpik says chucky i find this works best if you wake up extra early and listen to it really quietly before anyone else is awake. (heroic! alone! stupid work habits!)

  8. Origami says Thank god my productivity for the day is done. Now I can listen to this quietly and MOG. Which, as we all know, is anti-productivity at its finest.
