It looks to me like Laurie and Curley are living in the now.Oklahoma has officially made Do You Realize? by The Flaming Lips its official state rock song. Firstly, how cool is it of Oklahoma to even want an official state rock song? Secondly - don't get me wrong, I adore the band and the song, but do Oklahomans need a musical existential reminder that everyone they know someday will die? if my...
I don't think I've watched an entire music video all the way through since maybe G n R's November Rain on Headbanger's Ball. But I found this to be very clever and compelling, plus I learned a new word...praxinoscope. The song by Morey Mclaren is hauntingly catchy. An amazing amount of mastery by artist and filmaker, David Wilson went into this piece which is documented here.
they have other songs that do not reference cold precipitation doG only knows why I would post a song entitled "Snow" after all the whining I've done for the past 6 months about the cold, awful winter, but I think emergent rock stars The Beauvilles will help me heal the scars of the winter's chill. I believe he was referring to the gentleman on the far left.In case you missed TVOTR on The Colbert Report, you shouldn't and don't have to. The interview is chock full of Colbert in all his snarky splendor, and the performance was electrifying. I have a feeling these guys are going to benefit from "The Colbert Bump".
There are certain songs that just get to me. Physically. "Gideon" by My Morning Jacket is one of them. I don't know the meaning behind it, but some folks have discussed it here. It's just a very emotional and lovely song, I think. I thought I loved the record version and then I heard it performed with the Boston Pops. Wow.
Hello Explone! You are a tight, melodic little power pop trio from Seattle, and there is no such thing as too many power pop bands (or trios) in my book. I am looking forward to your as-yet-unrealeased album coming out this summer! It doesn't bother me at all that you remind me a bit of The Gin Blossoms, because, well, I like them too and I don't even think they are together anymore (oops yes t...
