Come on! Even Rollingstone said so...and don't you feel really American when you listen to the Ramones, even if you aren't?
"The Ramones always believed in their music's message of self-deliverance. They celebrated rock & roll, patriotic flag-wavers, simultaneously harking backward and forward. Their music wasn't angry, though it did have firepower and relentless energy. If anything, the Ramones affirmed that if they could do it, you could do it; just be resolute. Count to four."
They even made it onto this list of the 11 Most Patriotic Tunes. See? It even goes up to 'leven!
So light your firecrackers (but watch yer fingers!), pop open a cold one, turn up the Ramones and have a Happy 4th!

I felt king of the road listening to this. Have a great weekend. Even though it will be raining in Blighty, my spirit will be in my spiritual home, Hollywood USA.

Loving Ramones for the 4th. Sounding here (like they often do to me) like raw high energy Beach Boys with some attitude. Happy 4th to you too. We made a run across the border a couple weeks ago and got a big batch of fireworks to do tonight... Fun, Fun, Fun 'till they take my lighter away

Thanks guys! Jonh, I thought I could include an interview you may have done with The Ramones in the past...but couldn't find one. Have you ever met them in your work/travels? And Way...I knoew you would like this one! Are all your digits accounted for today? :-)

I never interviewed The Ramones though I did meet them after they played The Roundhouse in 1977 - to this day one of my top 2 or 3 gigs. I was taken backstage to meet them, taken into a huge room that could have seated about 100. It was empty except for them, each sitting on a chair in a separate corner of the room, as far as they could get away from each other.
Caroline Coon did a fantastic interview with Joey around this time, where he really spelled out the art concept behind the band. It may be on Rocks Back Pages.
