i'll say one thing. this is a lot more reassuring than what i saw on TV last week.
this is an awkward subject for me because i love Glen Campbell and i dig this disk. what bugs me are his vocals on this song. there are sections that feel like he's actually "talking to me", and then there are sections that sound completely like a Protools "cut 'n paste" where he has nothing to do with what's being said or even knows what's happening. i think the TV version magnified that as he read the teleprompter and just seemed to be banging it out. i was looking forward to it, but let down by it.
i don't like to be critical, especially of artists i like. on this track however, i think what's reassuring is the actual song itself and you're right.....that's always needed!
I think criticisms like this are good Robin. This is your work so you are going to bring a more ctitical ear to the production of songs, whereas I am just an enthusiast! Can you hear the inconsistancy in this track? I am going to take a listen and see if I can hear anything weird!
Well, the guy is in his, what, 70s or 80s by now. so that teleprompter might be relied on a wee bit. I missed the TV appearance, so I can't say (though there is always YouTube).
It sounds great to me - like all of the years gone by have made no difference.
always loved him, hearing his voice reminds me of when I was a kid. My brother and I used to lip sync rhinestone cowboy for my parents when we were small. We had the 45, and played it on our winnie the pooh record player...........god that used to be fun

he's got such a mellow clear voice & you're right Dermah--he does sound terrific for his age. I love him, especially Wichita Lineman.
