WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Screamy Vocals Friday

Posted about 1 year ago

Today's (controlled yet) screamy vocals were brought to my ipod courtesy of KCRW's Top Tune which was brought to them courtesy of the vocal chords belonging to Mikel Jollet, lead singer of The Airborne Toxic Event. There's nothing more romantic than a screamy love song, in my book. Other notable screamy vocals can be heard on Okkervil River's "Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe". A sentence fragment if I've ever. Heard one. Who's your favorite screamy vocalist or song?

It's probably because it's from "Come On Pilgrim" their first record.

and it had some bad distribution going on with it.

Totally not your fault..... not hearing it or the distribution part.

Ok.  Really!  This (**Sometime Around Midnight**) has a superficial **Conor Oberst** feel, a little **Sonic Youth** as filtered through **Interpol**, or the better side of **Yo La Tengo**.  I like it but.....

I like it a lot but......there's something,  something,...

    I like it though.  but....

The soundtrack to the vid (which I didn't watch), is less polished, careening around the melody...Musta been fun.

Dead: Now I've seen Conor Oberst mentione like eleventy bajillion times here on Mog. I gotta listen to hims. You know, I am much more critical of female vocalists than I am male vocalist...i'm gonna listen again without a romantic ear...

Rawk...these are great! I had never heard of Against Me and I love the Axl graphic! Maybe now it's time to listen to some female screamers...Courtney Love/Hole "Violet" is calling...

Against Me has to be one of, if not my favorite bands. The album is called re-inventing axl rose and it pissed of axl something fierce when he heard about it. As for female screamers, will give you one of my favs as well

Two more things......she was married to the frontman of Rancid, then she ended the marriage. This is the song he wrote about it.

and if you like the distillers, they try out these guys. They are my new favs

okay Vagiant? I am in AWE. That song should be adopted by N.O.W as the Feminist Movement's new Anthem! Total empowerment! i love it. And that sweet guy from Rancid? He has this demented puppy dog thing going on. I hope he met someone nice. :-) Is Vagiant still based in MA?

Maybe if Anna Karenina hadn't jumped in front of that train she could have started a BAND!
