not so poignant

poignant!
I love Jorma Kaukonen. He makes liking brilliant guitar-playing really easy which helps to create the illusion (in my own mind...so make that delusion) that I am quite the astute music lover. I especially love the record Quah which was released when I was 10 years old, and bopping to to The Partridge Family, so there goes my delusion of musical wisdom right down the tubes. Not to rush the season, but if you live in CT get your tickets now for a December performance by Jorma and his Hot Tuna buds at a really intimate and lovely venue, because they'll sell out fast. But back to "poignant". The song Genesis is one of the most touching songs ever, I think. In any case I can seriously listen to it over and over. That's all I wanted to say. Now, back to David Cassidy.

Thanks. This song brings tears to my eyes. My last two years in high school were spent worshipping Jorma and Jack. So hearing this really tugs at the heart.
Mostly it reminds me of a girl I knew at the time...Annie. A crazy free-spirit (I hear now she' a surfer, accupuncture, monk-seal advocate in Hawaii- It's been 20 years-wow!). She once had a 1/2 wolf, 1/2 Husky dog she tried to convert into a vegentarian by feeding it only carrots. It wasn't long before the animal control came to the door. It turns out that "Happy" was going out at night and eating neighborhood pets.
She was the kind of girl that was so free spirited at the time, I certainly wasn't ready for it. Once we (on a school night) drove from New Jersey to Long Island just to see Hot Tuna at Nassau county college. The concert (1989) was in the cafeteria and Annie and I were front and center. It was Jorma's birthday and we even got him to sign a pizza plate for us (I still have it in a box somewhere, it reads: Your pal, Jorma!). That night we camped out in the woods near the school. Ahh..what a time.
Thanks again. I think I'll take another listen.

Hey Q (how DO you pronounce that name? :-)
I too have some major nostalgia associated with Jorma. had a highschool love who was a BIG Jorma fan as well. That's so cool you had him sign something for you. he seems like a really lovely guy. How could he not be when he pays such beautiful music?
