It looks to me like Laurie and Curley are living in the now.
Oklahoma has officially made Do You Realize? by The Flaming Lips its official state rock song. Firstly, how cool is it of Oklahoma to even want an official state rock song? Secondly - don't get me wrong, I adore the band and the song, but do Oklahomans need a musical existential reminder that everyone they know someday will die? if my home town Connecticut ever got cool enough to pick a state rock song it would probably be about nutmeg and hedge funds.
Check out the the swearing in audio on NPR here, it's very official.

That's crazy. Who wants to be reminded that everyone in Oklahoma will die, when they play that at state events? ewww.
true dat. But yet, it is a beautiful song and perhaps, just perhaps the message is to remember to love one another and don't waste life because WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!
Maybe they will fade out that line and just leave the music. Hope so. Then, that other message will shine through. :)
I notice it's official state "rock" song. Does thta mean they also have official rap song, official country song, and of course, official broadway song? "Oooooooklahoma! And the..." etc.
