Burton Cummings, born in Winnipeg in 1947, played with the Devrons before joining the Guess Who as lead vocalist in 1965. Cummings spent ten years with that band, but left for a solo career, releasing a self-titled album in 1976. The single, "Stand Tall," sold over a million copies. 3. debzeppelin says I quite enjoy that song but if you had asked me yesterday who sings "Stand Tall", I would have drawn a blank. Everytime hear one of his songs, I always seem to find myself slightly suprised and thinking, "Burton Cummings did this? Cool." And I call myself a Canadian!? Shame on me. Great post - I love how in that first pic you posted, BC kinda looks like half the hipster dudes in my city: big shaggy hair, porn stash, dramatic aviators. So ahead of his time...

  4. Girlcrawl says 'Stand Tall' is a beautiful song; the 'Charlemagne' video is jammin', but how does he not have whiplash after such ferocious head nodding and bobbing - funny to watch.
