It's Evolution...

As I sit listening over a promo copy of the new Korn album "Untitled", I can't help feeling slightly disillusioned with the current sound of Korn. Don't get me wrong, I ain't hating but you can't deny that there was a certain appeal to earlier albums, the first 3 albums Korn, Life Is Peachy & Follow The Leader all have such a unique sound and style that more recent releases have been severely lacking in. In saying that, despite a different direction in sound, I can still hear one or two standout tracks on the first listen that remind me of the earlier Korn I fell in love with. Funny I should say that since guitarist Head (Brian Welch) is no longer in the band and drummer David Silveria is 'on hiatus' or whatever the fuck that means these days and now the depature of Terry Bozzio as replacement drummer because - and I quote Jon Davis here "Things got weird". LOL x 1,000,000!!!Some have said 'too many political overtones' which, on first glance don't seem too apparent - an album with a social conscience - Jon Davis argues in regards to Evolution that it's not so much political but more that it's a concern about the state of the planet for future generations. It sure is a pretty video nonetheless lol. So is the album artwork. Theres a few samples below. All in all, I'd have to give it a calculated 16 and a half out of 53 (I'm not down with this 5/10 bollocks etc). Theres old Korn sounds, theres overtones of Nine Inch Nails - due to one of the producers being Atticus Ross, known fellow industrialist and Trent Reznor plaything as well as some more obvious and braver moves in different directions, some of the songs are a little softer than what you would ever expect from Korn (Hushabye) yet still manage tear vocal chord strips during the chorus. It's worth a lookysee. Check on it!!Album Stats:Street Date: July 31st '07First Single: EvolutionProducers: Atticus Ross & The MatrixTracks:01. "Intro"02. "Starting Over"03.
