Awesome new Independent Artists I've Been Listening to:
The 1900s:Believe it or not, these guys actually sound like an amalgamation of 1900s music into one band. One minute they sound like Modest Mouse, the next like Fleetwood Mac, and the next like Iron & Wine, sometimes mixed with some old-school country vibes. It's very, very interesting and nice.Vampire Weekend:Apparently these guys are getting ridiculously popular nowadays, and that's good. I like to call them them American Bedouin Soundclash, but they're much more than that. Ska-y, indie, afro-beat sweetness. I might be seeing them at Pemberton music festival too.Woodhands:These two electro-pop artists from Toronto, Canada have been described as having a disdain for anything that's not "a sexy, dirty, dance party". I'd call them a mash-up of MSTRKRFT and the Postal Service. Very sweet.Frodus:Not new, but I got introduced to them through Thrice having a cover of their song "The Earth Isn't Humming" on their latest Alchemy Index release. If you're looking for the guys who basically influenced the whole post-hardcore scene of today, check these guys out. If you like bands like At The Drive-In, Drive Like Jehu, and Fugazi, you'll quite enjoy Frodus.
