for me, the real love affair with music began with the smiths. it is a tired story but, i was in high school and always trying to figure out what it all meant and, well, the smiths fell into my lap and i was hooked. now, 15 years later, i still find johnny marr's playing and morrissey's singing just as gorgeous. i still put on "meat is murder" and love every note of it. sure, i had a fling with suede and gene and oasis but the smiths seemed to be there first.
