for me, the real love affair with music began with the smiths. it is a tired story but, i was in high school and always trying to figure out what it all meant and, well, the smiths fell into my lap and i was hooked. now, 15 years later, i still find johnny marr's playing and morrissey's singing just as gorgeous. i still put on "meat is murder" and love every note of it. sure, i had a fling with suede and gene and oasis but the smiths seemed to be there first.

yeah, johnny with modest mouse is odd but he is known for playing with so many different people that i guess i am not too surprised. i'd love to see him playing with them, though. he is truly a genius.
