God bless Hed Kandi

Mate of mine is throwing an engagement party and the best we can come up with music wise is hooking his MP3 player up to the soundsystem as the venue has nowhere for decks or the like to plug in.So cue me sitting in a dark room trawling through my rather overstuffed collection of funky house/disco house/dancy stuff and mixing it all up into a huge 7 hour bonanza of foot-tapping and head-nodding ;)Thank gawd for labels like Hed Kandi which go out there and scour the labels for decent dancy, housey tracks. I simply don't have the time to listen to the vast amount of electronica that is out there. And even when I do it's really hit or miss, nothing much has changed in that department since my days spinning vinyl way back in the late 80's early 90's. Though back then you could pick 20 12" and come away with at least 3/4 of them being blinding. Nowadays I could pick 20 tracks and be lucky if 1 of them is worthy of a play.So though I may be missing out on some corking tracks, I have to doff my virtual hat to the labels that go out there and make life relatively easier for working folk like me to allow me to spread the gospel of dance to the head-nodding masses! And those corking tracks I do miss out on, I generally find, or am reccommended anyway albeit a few weeks later but the end result is the same.Hands in the air :D
