Regina at Virgin Fest was nothing less than fantabulous. She played solo with her Grand Piano and was undoubtedly one of the finest performances I've ever seen by a solo artist. Nothing less than remarkable. Her voice was right on, tingling the spine and making the brain forget to tell the lungs to breathe. She played a great mix between Soviet Kitsch and Begin to Hope. Thank you Russia!!! :)

So who else went to this fantastic fiesta of a festival? This was actually my first festival ever! I know, 29 and behind the times. What a good start though. Although the days temps were exhaustingly hot, so were the bands! The Police, The Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, Modest Mouse, Wu-Tang Clan, Bad Brains, Regina Spektor, Spoon, M.I.A., 311, Yeah Yeah Yeahs just to name a FEW! The show started at 12pm and ended around 10pm both saturday and sunday. Non stop music everywhere on 2 stages and a dance tent. The set lengths were quite decent if you were not a headliner too. Headliners played roughly an hour and 45 mins and the non headliners kept there sets around an hour. This kept a lot of the bands from bantering on between songs and delaying the rock! PLAY IT, DONT DELAY IT!!!!!

The crowd was also pretty decent. Of course there were a few people way to drunk to deal with, therefore very annoying (Note: Never mix 9 beers in 95 degree heat). Usually, they would either pass out at some point and leave everyone alone or throw up on someone and fall asleep...yes, this did happen, but not to me). It was so hot, though, that some people just passed out from the heat (and presumably the hot rock we were all rockin out to).

Also, I know this is a music blog, but DAMN the food was good a the fest. Huge portions and not really too expensive either. I was very surprised at this as i was expecting to pay somewhere upwards of $100-$150 for food (lunch and dinner) and only spen around $60 with a couple smoothies. Not bad sir!

All in all, a great experience. I would love to hear other peoples experiences too. And if youve been to other festivals, compare and contrast!
