WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

living in a lonely world.

I love covers, both strange & faithful. I have great affection for the rework that brings out subtle new shades of meaning in the original; I more often collect bizarre choices made by odd artists. I have so many covers I love so deeply that I have no business interrupting this conversation with the song I came here to upload. I offer reasons over excuses: 1.) Everyone loves this song. (Oh, stop lying to yourself.) 2.) It's a capella. 3.) It will provide a nice launching point for me to post a few of my other favorite inappropriate novelty covers, in all of their unbridled awesomeness, in the comments. Perhaps my next post will be back to the covers I love un-winkingly. But until then. *I'll admit I wish she didn't slip into spoken word. But the first minute wins me enough to get over it.

  3. 1234chainsaw says Agreed on what kind of covers are the most interesting. Haden also recorded the entire Sell Out by The Who with her a cappella group. I saw them perform it as an opening act to the Decemberists. It was wonderful. Another novelty cover I like is Macha & Bedhead's cover of "Believe" which begins with the chorus melody tapped out in touch-tone dial sounds. :D

  5. Mike the Knife says Me too. (The Sell Out set.) Meanwhile, very cool stuff, n-space. Even though I detest Journey in all ways, the "Complicated" and "Waterloo Sunset" tracks were awe - wait for it - some! And this post inspired me to access my folder with the Kinks' greatest, as well as the actual and astonishing The Who Sell Out album (recommended to any and all who love smart, tuneful, witty rock and roll.)
