I've been to see Crowded House and Neil Finn playing solo a lot of times over the years, and every single time - no matter what the venue, and no matter in which country, the sound is superb.
Every single lyric is clearly audible, which is a real treat. It makes the live experience even better than listening to recordings.
It spoils it for enjoying gigs by other artists, where the vocals are consistently drowned out, or where the singer's natural tone is spoiled by the strain they're having to make to get heard.
Either Neil Finn is a control-freak perfectionist (which I suspect), or he's been using the same guy throughout.
Whichever, if you're a band - find someone who has worked the sound desk for Neil Finn/Crowded House on tour, and do us all a favour!
