Strange old jokes aside (I first heard the "No soap Radio" joke in Elementary school, about XXX many years ago), I just discovered Bill Frisell's "Gone, Just Like a Train." I found myself listening to this disc WAY more than any other I'd heard in recent memory, as if it was tuning my brain into some other space..
The song "Egg Radio" seems to have a particualrly strong effect. (I can't help but think the name is a reference to some version of the afore mentioned joke.) Others, like "Girl Asks Boy part 1" I can actually listen to 2 or 3 times IN A ROW - something I haven't done since crossing the "Making music for 30 years" mark, about a decade ago. (Yeah, I'm old - so what????). Anyway, I haven't posted a song of the week in months at least, so without any further hooplah here is Bill Frisell with two industry giants - Victor Krause on Bass and the great Jim Keltner on drums. These guys have a "pocket" you could drive a semi into, and the groove speaks for itself.
Enjoy -

Not my thing at all usually gotta say that I really enjoyed this one! It's so lowkey.

Yeah, it has a kind of...peacfulness, and yet it rocks - just enough.
I can't explain why it hooks me like a...well, like a hook (for lack of a better term). Pulls me like an elctromagnet on a old car.

haha, hooked like a hook. true though, rocks just enough at the same time.
