As of recently my musically inclined friends and I have had many different opinions on Jimi Hendrix's best album. For the most part the majority of people would probably say it'd be his first album "Are You Experinced"

As great of an album this is I'd have to disagree with most people. I think in this album hes establishing himself in the predominantly white rock world. Although the record is groundbreaking and widely hailed (by all us music junkies) I still believe his third album "Electric Ladyland" is his masterpiece. Songs such as: Voodoo Chile,Crosstown Traffic and All Along the Watchtower give depth to such an underrated album. Just listening through the whole album you can appreciate Hendrix's passion for his songs and begin to understand the pinnacle, he rode on at the time. For those of you who have underlooked this album before, its time to listen to it again and be left in awe.

Jimi was the first to endear me to Rickenbacker guitars and Sunn amps. i have electric ladyland on vinyl and it still sounds heavy. nice choice!

Side 3 of Electric Ladyland is perfect. Matched only by Side 2 of In The West. (Am I dating myself by speaking "vinyl"? ;-) )

And I want to weigh in with a different opinion - that the second LP, Axis: Bold As Love is my favorite (and thus, the best) of the three LPs released in Jimi's lifetime.

With the Experience, definitely "Electric Ladyland", but I firmly believe he was really coming into his own with Band of Gypsies, which unfortunately was cut short by his death. As I've said before, I'll take it all, but this is my favorite Experience album.

While Ladyland is chock-full of great tracks, the double-album curse does afflict it a bit. If I boiled it down to one LP, it would probably be my fave.
