wow.

i'm trying to place what this is a mix between. obviously there's some devendra banhart. and maybe jana hunter. and maybe even donovan. i don't know.

but i want to do things with it. like share it and add it to soundtracks.

i'm a sucker for accordions too... the reason i liked beirut so much was for this fact... although beirut's music can get a bit boring after a while.

this is promising dark folk pop. that's what it is.

Well, I was going to weigh in on what this band sounds like, but I think "promising dark folk pop" sums it up pretty well. And accordions are pretty fun!

i'm sitting in my literary critical theory class like "fuck off, plato." you know that human beings criticize and interpret EVERYTHING? this must be why i have such low self esteem. i agree it's needed in order to understand what's going on, but when someone's listening to a piece of jazz and thinking "this represents so much pain," or looking at me and thinking that both my parents must also be unattractive (mind reader, i am) i just want to swing bats. fruit bats. i better pay attention now. let's listen to lemon jelly.

i remember, when i was a teenager, laying in my bed, candles lit and dancing their lights across my walls, listening to Tori Amos. My interest in her music sputtered out in '98 or so and there's been this v o i d .

but who is this? who is this lady? seems the genius behind the band, my brightest diamond, is a pretty little woman named shara worden, whirling out a musical marathon of jazz, goth-pop and rock.

i dunno how to write music reviews. i can only really tell you to listen to this song and remember where you were while you listened to 'Little Earthquakes'.
