Bell X1's Flock - the Apple of My Eye

Posted about 1 year ago

Well, apparently Damien Rice used to be in Bell X1. Once I got over not caring - since I find Damien Rice to be overrated - I started listening. I found an improvement in this record over their past releases. Maybe because there's no Damien Rice, or because it reminds of a tame discotheque, or maybe because it's the perfect work music: catchy, uplifting, and obscure enough that my coworkers don't make fun of me (such is the woe of working in the music industry).

Flock, despite a few bad reviews (coughPitchforkcough*) pleased me. I wouldn't call it one of my favorite albums of the year, but I would put it on my mp3 player and not skip through it when it comes on. Believe me, this is a high compliment. This is one of those albums that are meant to be listened to all at once, though, not separated into those chilling things people like to call "singles."

Be sure to listen to the attached song, "Flame", and check out my personal favorite song of the album, "Eve, the Apple Of My Eye," in a clip of The O.C.:
