MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

(1012)

While walking into my dorm room today, I was shocked to hear a hauntingly beautiful voice emanating from my roommate's computer. Normally, she and I don't have the same music taste, but A Fine Frenzy gave me chills.

A Fine Frenzy is 22-year-old Alison Sudol, a gorgeous woman with an even prettier voice. But don't get me wrong -- she's not just a pretty face; and she's got the voice to prove it.

On "Almost Lover", she evokes memories of lovers who make promises, only to leave. Her lyrics are heartfelt:

I cannot go to the ocean I cannot drive the streets at night I cannot wake up in the morning Without you on my mind So you're gone and I'm haunted And I bet you are just fine Did I make it that easy for you To walk right in and out of my life?

"Almost Lover" is not the only gem from her album, "One Cell In The Sea." Her more upbeat, "You Picked Me" speaks of love that hasn't gone awry:

And all I can say Is you blow me away

I haven't found an songstress this profound in a long while. Take a listen, and then go buy the CD. You know you want to.
