I'm in a Paul McCartney mood. Today I finished checking out a documentary on the making of Chaos and Creation in the Backyard that my old buddy Rich had recommended I watch. I started going through my archives and I pulled out this vintage Macca song from the 80's. From the underrated and often panned Press to Play album is this first single.

Press to me reminds me of being in high school and working at my first job. I got this gig at a grocery store. I loved that job. It was the first time in my life I was getting paychecks and spending them on vinyl, cassettes, books, magazines educating myself on music art and film.

I worked at that store for over four years. I spent a lot of my formative years there. It was like working at a factory. The way you would ring up all of those groceries over and over again was maddening. To ease the tension I would key in messages on the keypad next to my register, which was supposed to be used for, scanning checks and credit cards. I would type in Press to Play in honor of Paul McCartney. I thought it was fun but it really bothered my managers. Being young and foolish I did it. I typed in this phrase over and over again.

This clip of Press is my favorite of all Paul McCartney's videos. I love the fact that he's running around hanging with the folks on the tube. I would have loved to have been there on the train with him. At that time, it made me want to travel to England to visit that same tube station where the video was recorded. One day we will be there.

Even Paul’s mediocre stuff has some merit as barely evinced by this effort.
I agree that the tube video is cool
