There's something about the harmonies on "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." They bring me back to when I was younger and listening to my Mami's radio. She loved herself some Elton John. She always called him "el hombre con las gafas," which translates as the man who wears lots of sunglasses.
This is a classic and it gets a modern update thanks to Keane. What an amazing cover. Somewhere Elton and Bernie are grinning with pride.
"You know you can't hold me forever
I didn't sign up with you
I'm not a present for your friends to open
This boy's too young to be singing the blues"
This is one of Elliott Smith's favorite Elton John songs. He once took mushrooms and listened to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for eighteen hours straight. He then wrote Waltz # 1.
I say press play and bring out the 'shrooms.
