First we were informed by Morrissey's management that neither he nor Johnny Marr officially sanctioned nor approved of the up and coming hits package coming out on Rhino.
Now we are being told not only do the two endorse the release but acccording to the NME, Morrissey, himself, came up with the title and Marr is supervising the mastering of the tracks.
Am I the only one who would rather not go back to the old house with yet another Smiths compilation? Where's the long rumored Smiths boxset? The digitally remastered reissues?
Could it be that The Smiths have more compilations than actual recorded albums? I don't want to paint another cliche'd vulgar picture but c'mon, the legacy of the greatest band of the eighties and their fans deserves better than this.
Who is going to break down and buy this compilation? I, myself, may have to pick up the deluxe edition for the remastered bonus cuts.
