MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Artist:
Track: Professional Widow (original album version)
(7)

The song that was allegedly inspired by Courtney Love and who Trent Reznor blames for fracturing his close friendship with Tori. Trent also wrote a song about this episode using the word "starfucker" from this song.

One of the most wicked and powerful sounding songs from Boys for Pele. This funky original, I'm not a fan of the remix, is one of the definite highlights of Pele. Tori sings with a furious vocal as if she's possessed but then in the "rest your shoulders peaches and cream/everywhere a judas as far as you can see beautiful angel
calling "we got every re-run of muhammed ali
"" she goes into this high pitched angelic register before going back to her sinister vocal.

Tori described one of the inspirations for Widow as..."my hunger for the energy I felt some of the men in my life possessed: the ability to be king. I wasn't content just being a muse. I was the creative force. I was in relationships with different men where if they could honor that, they couldn't honor the woman, and if they could honor the woman, they couldn't honor the creative force."

And what about that climactic last phrase of the song? Tori explains, "Give me peace, love and a hard cock: because you can't have one without the other. For her to really say, are you gay?/are you blue? that same person has had to say give me peace, love, and a hard cock, because if I hear Peace and Love one more time! That is so full of shit!"

"Widow" is one of her most empowering songs and dare I say her most popular. So turn it up and wake up the neighbors with this classic one from Pele.
