BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

(9)

Tonight was the first week anniversary of living in our new place. It's been bliss. Last night, we went on a dinner date to our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Pasadena.

Our dinner and a movie was a celebration of Michelle's getting a new gig during the fall semester at her grad school. She's excited.

Speaking of the movie, we went and saw the new Hunter S. Thompson documentary, Gonzo, at the Pasadena Playhouse. It was amazing. H.S.T. was one of my favorite writers. As some of you may know, after he died I got his Gonzo symbol tattooed on my arm. So as soon as I saw that it was playing in Pasadena, I told Michelle about it. She actually chose seeing Gonzo over Hellboy II. She's got amazing taste. I actually think that she liked Gonzo more than I did.

Tonight we cooked our first meal together. Michelle baked some Chicken with Asparagus. And I made two Colombian side dishes, patacones, which are sliced & fried Plantain bananas and Garbonzo beans. We had the most incredible dinner. The awesome thing was that we made it together. We ate together and then we cleaned up together. The night was simpatico.

As we cooked, I had this Modest Mouse song in my head. "Fire It Up" is a song I put on one of M's herbal mixes that I made for her and her amigas during one of their outings over a year ago.

I hadn't heard "Fire It Up" since then but this morning at work satellite radio played it. And I've been singing it ever since. For now on, this song will remind me of our first dinner we made together in this lovely new place we call home.
