I was one of the few that thought Pop was underrated. Yes, it has its flaws. Over produced, rushed released but some of the songs are some of U2's best. I also admit that I wasn't a fan of the studio version of Staring at the Sun. It sounded like U2 trying to do Oasis. But this acoustic version is a classic. By stripping the song of it's excess gloss you can hear the beauty in the lyrics. I love Edge's acousting picking. Also, I'm a sucker for crowd singing, when they sing the chorus, I feel my hairs stand up.
This version of Staring at the Sun reminds me of riding the train from Mira to Rome. I remember singing "Happy to go blind" over and over, feeling blessed for being there in that moment with the music blasting in my ears watching all the scenes, houses, people from the train, in Italia. It was a true soundtrack moment I will never forget.
