Oasis is another band who at times get on my nerves but they have a few songs that just slay me. Half The World Away is one of those songs. It's part of my DNA and a vivid selection of the soundtrack that is mi vida.
This song reminds me of my first weeks living in New Orleans. I purchased a Q Magazine with Thom Yorke on the cover. Half the World Away was one of the songs on the compilation cd that was attached to the magazine.
This song used to cheer me up during those early days when I felt alone. I would sit on my balcony, playing Half the World Away while looking at the huge oak tree in front of my second floor apartment. It was such peaceful site. This song got me through some lonely times during the beginning of my five year stay in N.O.

i used to have quite a distaste for Oasis, but i've fallen pretty hard for them over the last little while.
i am loving this song this morning...it would fit rather well into a mix i'm making - any chance of sharing a copy with me?

I'm with you on these guys -- they drive you nuts with some of their comments, but then come up with songs like this!
I really like the latest Dig Out Your Soul -- it's filled with not only good, but some great songs, like I'm Outta Time (not unlike Half a World Away), Falling Down, and if you like the fuzz-rock Oasis, The Shock of the Lightning.
I've seen them three times -- and they always sound great, even if they act like they don't care.
