Is it just me or is this one of the most enjoyablr choruses to sing along too. I can't stop. So nonsensical and brilliant. The Great Beyond is the ideal tribute to Andy Kaufman. To me it's like a lyrical sequel to Man on the Moon. And something I just found out, between 4:09 and 4:26 towards the end of the song, under the chorus, you can barely hear Stipe sing "Here's a little agit for the never believer, and here's a little ghost for the offering... " which is a line from the original Kaufman inspired Man on the Moon.

yes yes this one of the great songs to sing to in the car especially when i am by myself(oops maybe that shouldn't have come out)
Great song. I was looking for the BBC Radio 2 advert with Michael Stipe singing a really alternative version of this song, but can't find it anywhere, which is a shame.
