In the midst of creating one of my weekly Saturday mixes, I rediscovered this Underworld classic of David Bowie's Bring Me the Disco King. From the soundtrack of the same movie, I adore this Loner mix that features the vocals by Marnard.

This is a gem hidden on this now obscure soundtrack. Bowie has some of his best lyrics in years. Disco King takes me back to my days and nights in New Orleans. The girl I was dated had just moved back to Portland. She was a huge Bowie fan, so I dedicated this song to her on one of the many mixes I sent her.

I remember walking around the rock floor of my Tower Records job listening to Disco King and imagining Bowie was singing the song as an ode to the both of us. In the end he wasn't. Far from it. But today I am admiring Maynard's vocals. His voice sounds so elloquently perfect with Bowie.
