WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

bela lugosi's dead

Posted 7 months ago

I have to apologize in advance but I have to do a little bit of gloating. Michelle and I were watching this weeks episode of Fringe tonight and there was a song playing that I knew from the moment I heard the high hat and the drum beats. Bela Lugosi's Dead was the song and the creators weaved it brilliantly into the episode. I was proud of myself. I knew it. Even Michelle was impressed, she kept asking me the other artists that were played in the Goth club in the episode. I recognized Daniel Ash and the Nine Inch Nails song.

Bela Lugosi's Dead is one of the songs where I first heard when I saw the video on 120 Minutes while I was in high school. Seeing the image of Peter Murphy as this haunted deity behind that cage was the image engraved in my memory. That is until tonight, the way Fringe used Bela in the episode I will remember.

oh, now i can't wait to see Fringe when i get back tot the States.

the first time i heard 'Bela...' was when the film 'The Hunger', with David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve, came on some cable channel. (in fact, the whole soundtrack is brilliant)

i too was mesmerized watching Peter, and his voice...gave me chills. i found every song i could by bauhaus and devoured them. finally saw them in concert with NIN a few summers ago.

    same chills.

I too first heard this when we watched The Hunger, and searched all over for the record.
