    Foolproof (Ron Sexsmith cover)

Lovely Ms. Feist in this very seductive torch song cover of Ron Sexsmith's Fool Proof. I love the jazzy feel. It's sexy and romantic. Foolproof is the kind of song that would playing in playing on the jukebox in that scene from a story I'm writing where two lovelorn strangers meet in a dark secluded French Quarter Bar. One is sitting at the end of the bar sketching on a napkin. The other is nervously stirring the straw in her melting drink. She smiles as he looks up as their eyes finally meet Feist starts to sing.

"This is one of my favorite songs." She says taking a sip of her sloe gin fizz.

"Feist's cover is almost as good as the original." He says nervously looking down at the napkin and the figure he's been drawing.

"Ron Sexsmith, I love his voice. I saw him when he opened for Coldplay at the Orpheum. I went to see him..."

"You know who Ron Sexsmith is?" He says looking up surprised.

"Of cource I do, my ex husband said he was an Elvis Costello wanna be."

"That's ground for divorce." he said not looking up still drawing on the now very damp nakpin.

"Why do you think I divorced him, silly."

"You have good taste."

"Thank you, what are you drawing?" She asks getting up from her barstool.

The clicking of her heels echoed over the sound of Feist in the empty bar.

"Nothing..." He said as he put his hand over the napkin, covering his drawing.

"Are you a shy artist?"

"That's me. Let me buy you a drink... what are you drinking, sloe gin fizz right?"

"How did you know?"

"James, makes the best Gin Fizz in the Quarter. Besides he's my buddy and told me what you were drinking."

"Thanks James." She said winking at bartender.

"Now you know about me, what I'm drinking, why don't you show me what y're drawing."

"Why, it's just a doodle...I felt inspired and I started to draw..." He tried to explain but it was useless, she removed his hand and grabbed the napkin from under his fingers.

"It's me...you're drawing me."

He didn't know what to say. He adjusted his glasses and scratched his nose.

"Have a seat?" He said getting up waiting for her to sit next to him.

"Maybe..." She replied as James brought her another sloe gin fizz.

"Well.." He asked as she tapped the heel of her red she as he awaiting her answer.

"One one condition."

"anything."

"You'll let me keep the drawing as a memento of our meeting?"

He slid over the napkin. She picked it up it had his signature and phone number. She sat down and sipped her drink as Feist began to play again.
