I've been listening to Leonard Cohen's Live in London double CD, Treblezine review forthcoming, and it is simply amazing. This morning I woke up to my favorite Kurt Cobain lyric in my head. "...give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld/so I can sigh enternally..."
I remember living in my parents house in San Antonio and having a wallsized poster of In Utero cover above my bed. I always thought of it at the angel looking over me. I used to have constant nightmares and waking up looking at the poster would calm me down and help me back to sleep.
It's been ages since I heard this version of Pennyroyal Tea. It makes me think of all the promise in the creative talent that Cobain left unfinished. With lyrics like that we are made to wonder what could have been if Kurt had lived.

I'd like to think that Kurt is in some Cohen-esque afterworld creating without the pressures of this world that seemed to make him so unhappy.
Though selfishly I wish he'd stayed, as I would have loved to have experienced what he would have gone on to create.
