Love is a Battlefield

I heard Love is a Battlefield and it takes me back, way back. There are two vivid memories that come to mind when I hear this Pat Benatar classic pop 80' s pop song. The first is the last day of my geometry class seventh grade. There was this girl a friend of mine and we would always sing this song to each other in class. So in our year book she wrote simply, Adrian, Love is a Battlefield. with her heart and her initials which I can never remember.

Many years later, when I lived in New Orleans, every Thursday the whole Tower Records gang would go to 80's Night at the Shim Sham club. Some of the best times I had living in the 504 were the nights I spent drinking, laughing, dancing and singing along to all of those vintage songs from the eighties. Love is a Battlefield was one of those songs they played and it reminds me of this one night when this song came on. I remember dancing seeing all my friends faces and just cherishing the moment with this song. Those were the nights as we all sang, "We are young, heartache to heartache we stand. No promises, no demands."

The Shim Sham is gone but the memories of those crazy and memorable nights remain vivid as the moments I lived them within songs like Love is Battlefield.
